Menu lists porridge, grilled sardines, mutton chops & chips, fried eggs & bacon, sausages & mashed potatoes, devilled fowl, curry & rice, hominy cakes, and cold ham. At the top is a small portrait of a steam and sailing ship in an oval inset.
The ship ‘Tongariro' was a single screw steam ship of 4200 tons. It had left Wellington on 20 February for London, via Monte Video (left there on 12 March), Tenerife and Plymouth, and so was nearing Plymouth by 2 April, the date of this menu.
