- Description
Shows a grinning pig representing MPs leaping through a large ring that denotes the '2008 pay increase' which is being held by ringmaster, Prime Minister, John Key. In his other hand John Key holds a small ring that denotes the '2009 wage freeze'. He tries to persuade an elephant representing the public sector to jump through it but the ring is far too small and the elephant looks very dubious. Refers to the increase that MPs got in 2008 and the contrast with the wage freeze that the public sector is being asked to accept in 2009 in the face of the recession. To give them their due, MPs have accepted a one year wage freeze that was called for by Green Party co-leader, Jeanette Fitzsimons, after her 3 year suggestion was shouted down.
