Description

`A native of Otaheite defying his enemy by the wry mouth' is derived from part of an engraving by R B Godfrey In: Parkinson's Journal, 1773, Pl vii, p. 24, which in turn is from a drawing made by Sydney Parkinson on Cook's first voyage. (See Beaglehole's Banks v. 1, pl. 13 end of vol.)

`A New Zealand warrior defying his enemies' is also derived from an engraving by Godfrey (after Parkinson) In: Parkinson's Journal, 1773, Pl. xvii, op. p. 91.

`A musical youth in the habit of his profession', also derived from an engraving by R B Godfrey (after Parkinson), In: Parkinson's Journal, 1773, Pl. ix, op. p 66.

`Habits of a woman and boy' derived from an engraving by T. Chambers (after Parkinson) ie. `A woman and a boy, natives of Otaheite, in the dress of that country', In: Parkinson's Journal, 1773, pl. v. op. p23.
