Musician and conductor, Dorothea Franchi, playing the harp. Painted when the subject visited Wellington, shortly after her performance as the harpist in Benjamin Britten's "Ceremony of Carols" and Menotti's "Amahl and the Night Visitors" in Wellington Town Hall, December, 1961. The artist, also known as Sister Mary Lawrence, was a teacher at St Mary's College, Wellington
