Al Qaeda seeking nuclear weapons - News. 14 April 2010
- Date
- 2010
- Reference
- DCDL-0014124
- Description
The cartoon shows a huge nuclear powered missile protruding from a secret Al Qaeda hideout in the Afghan mountains. Osama bin Laden and 'Mustapha' who is responsible for the initiative of acquiring the weapon are dwarfed by its size and bin Laden wonders what part of 'secret hideout' Mustapha does not understand. Text above reads 'Al Qaeda seeking nuclear weapons - News'. Refers to an assessment by John Brennan, U.S. President Barack Obama's Deputy National Security Advisor for Counterterrorism and Homeland Security, at a news conference before Obama's Summit on Nuclear Security that Al-Qaeda is actively seeking nuclear materials and the technology to build a nuclear weapon, but hasn't yet acquired such capabilities.
