Description

Page from an unknown book shows 47 numbered images of birds and parts of birds of all types: long-legged cranes, herons and wading birds, aquatic birds, and a dodo. At lower left are 13 diagrams of beaks and bills, and at lower right 7 diagrams of feet. A wing and a diagrammatic bird in profile are also shown.

An illustration numbered 37 at the lower right shows a version of the first published depiction of a kiwi, by Richard Nodder. It is seen in an upright position (because it was drawn from a dried skin). The first version was published in 1813 in The naturalist's miscellany
