Description

Caricature of Australian cartoonist, Michael Leunig, who is shown holding two cartoons depicting Auschwitz in 1942 and Israel in 2002. There are interesting parallels. The reference is to a hoax whereby a 26 year old free-lance Australian journalist called Richard Cooke, submitted the 2002 Leunig cartoon to a newspaper contest launched by an Iranian newspaper, in February 2006, after a Danish newspaper published caricatures of the prophet Muhammad, angering Muslims around the world. Cooke has apologised to Leunig.
