The text described 4 early pictures of Shakespeare, the 'Chandos' portrait being an oil, with the following text on the back of the canvas 'The Chandos Shakspeare was the property of John Taylor, the player, by whom, or by Richard Burbage, it was painted ...' with further information about its provenance. This information held in a folder marked B39/14-17, located in the box between B-039-017 and B-038-018..
