- Description
A senior member of the New Zealand forces in Afghanistan greets what he thought was going to be the combat division of the SAS only to realize that the 'corporate' division has been sent instead. They all carry full glasses and are at various stages of inebriation. A Sunday Star-Times investigation has found executives paid hundreds of dollars each for SAS firearms training and to sip cocktails with Victoria Cross war hero Corporal Willie Apiata. Business leaders are paying $500 a head for secret sessions with the SAS. Star-Times inquiries revealed that staff from Auckland-based private equity company Direct Capital and several of its partner businesses were allowed into the Papakura Military Camp last month for a day of hands-on training that concluded with a cocktail party.
