Yachts on the beach at Balaena Bay, Wellington, taken by an unidentified photographer. The year is 1910 - an accident reported on in the NZ Yachtsman 08 Oct 1910. Left to right: White Heather, Nancy Stair, Wairere II, Mahina, Iolanthe. It shows a number of yachts without masts and men standing on and around the yachts. The boats were inshore hauled out and on cradles at Balaena Bay to be worked on. It seems as though a small earthquake or wind blew them over. Houses can be seen on the hills in the background.
