Iolanthe (Yacht)

Photographed in 1910 by unidentified photographer in 1910 on the beach at Balaena Bay, Wellington. The Iolanthe and other boats were inshore to be worked on and a small earthquake or wind blew them over, as reported in the 'NZ Yachtsman' on 8 Oct 1910.

Competed in a race on 19 February 1916 (location unknown) and was placed second.

The boats were inshore hauled out and on cradles at Balaena Bay to be worked on. It seems as though a small earthquake or wind blew them over. Houses can be seen on the hills in the background.
