Shows a Maori canoe with European sails in the foreground near two bush-topped rocks. In the middle distance on shore, is a large tent, the camp of Arthur Wakefield's preliminary expedition's shore-party, with the brig "Arrow" at anchor to the right. The snow-capped Arthur Range is in the background.
