The cartoon shows Leader of the Labour opposition Phil Goff driving a bus with his deputy Annette King sitting beside him. The bus's destination sign reads 'Axe the tax' and Goff grins manically and waves an axe out of the window. On the road in front of the bus Prime Minister John Key and Finance Minister Bill English have arranged tacks into the words 'Tax cuts'; they are pointed side up so that they will burst the bus tires into the words 'Tax cuts'. Text reads 'Goff gets road rage!' There is wordplay on 'tax' and 'tacks'. Refers to the government's intention to introduce tax cuts in the May budget. Phil Goff is leading a bus tour campaign against the Government's proposed GST hike, which is also proposed mainly to fund the tax cuts.
