Papers collected by Donne relating to his interest in aspects of Maori culture and to his work in the Tourist Department promoting tourism in Rotorua. Also contains correspondence notebooks and notes on Donne's collection of Maori artifacts
Part of the papers consists of material relating to Major-General Horatio Gordon Robley, 1840-1930. Includes annotated photographs and magazine cuttings illustrating Robley's collection of dried Maori heads - also photograph of Robley with his dried head collection.

Description: Newspaper cutting is image of waka on the river Thames with spectators on the riverbank. Includes caption: 'A novelty at the great english regatta at Henley: A Maori war canoe on the Thames. Perhaps the most popular event at this year's Henley regatta was the appearance of a Maori war canoe on the Thames. The canoe was a replica of the famous Arawa cannoe, in which the ancestors of the Arawa tribe, of Rotorua, made the journey from Hawaiiki to New Zealand. The crew consisted of 10 men and 10 women forom Maggie Papakura's troupe. Quantity: 1 page.
