Description: Postcard with a photo-mechanical reproduction of a drawing of an amended design for the proposed monument for Maori soldiers designed by Auckland sculptor W H Feldon, 16 Feb 1920 showing additional portraiture panels. On top on the monument is a Maori warrior. The memorial was erected to commemmorate the sons of the Te Arawa people who fought and died in World War One. It was unveiled by the Duke of York in Feb 1927. Words, pictures and symbols tell the story of the arrival of the Te Arawa waka at Maketu and the tribes' voyage to the 20th century. Description: Album containing photographs of Māori receptions for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip on the royal tour of New Zealand in 1953-1954, taken by unknown photographers. Includes receptions in Waitangi, Ngaruawahia, and Rotorua, and contains many photographs of various iwi performing action songs and haka, as well as powhiri and wero. Most photographs have captions. Also includes photographic copies of the address from "the Māori Race" to the Queen read by the Minister of Māori Affairs at Rotorua, and the Queen's reply, and a photograph of the gifts given to the royal couple by Māori. Description: Photographs taken between1880 and 1979 of rangatira, tāngata Māori, and Māori communities and activities, along with a variety of photographs relating to taonga, wharenui, and toi whakairo. Also contains images of Māori on thirteen 'Three Castles Virginia Cigarette" cigarette cards, and hand sketched lithographs of facial moko designs. Some of the images are annotated on the reverse. Three photographs relating to Te Poho o Rangiahua meeting house in Frasertown, near Wairoa have the words 'On loan from Maori Affairs Dept' annotated on the reverse. Title supplied by Library. Black & white photographs showing the geology and geomorphology of the Rotorua area, taken while George Leslie Adkin was attending a New Zealand Geological Survey Staff Conference, May 9-22, 1948. Includes images of a thermal spring at Ohaki (near Rotorua), the Hinemaiai Stream; Lakes Taupo and Rotoaira, aerial views of the Tongariro volcanic complex showing Mt Tongariro, Mt Ruapehu and Mt Ngauruhoe with the Waco plane used for the flights; the Tikitere thermal area; Lake Rotoiti; the ignimbrite gorge of the Waikato River at the Maraetai dam site; Whakarewarewa; Maggie Papakura's house at Tuhoromatakaka, Whakarewarewa. He later visited Napier and Hastings (Sept 3-7, and 15-20, 1948), and has images showing Napier City; the shingle beach at the breakwater, Napier; Ahuriri Bluff, and the Manawatu Gorge. On Sept 9th 1948 he took photographs of the Wellington Peninsula from Parkvale Road to Mt Kaukau, and from Mt Kaukau showing the Wellington City hill system and its topographical features.

The "Korero Hau Kura" set contains posters for the following Maori proverbs: Kia mau ki te aka matua; kei mau ki te aka taepa (Grasp the vine planted in the ground, not the vine from the heavens) He poporo tu ki te hamuti (A cherished one, standing undaunted in adversity) Ka tuhi Kaitangata (A mark of Kaitangata) Hauhake tu, ka to a Matariki (A time to harvest as Matariki sets) Ae ko Hotumauea te tangata nei (Yes indeed this person is Hotumauea) Ka maru koe i toku pureke, he kahu pitongatonga (The hem of my fine cloak will shelter you) Nga Reo o Aotearoa, "Voices of Aotearoa"; a collection of treasured Maori stories, contains posters about the following stories: Arai-te-uru - Canoe which brought Rongo-i-tua and his people to New Zealand. It was wrecked at Matakaea and its kumara cargo became the Moeraki boulders. Kahukura - the story of his tricking the patupaiarehe while they were fishing Kuiarau - while bathing in a small lake at Rotorua she was taken by taniwha. Her husband Tamahika asked the gods to kill the taniwha, and they did so by boiling the lake waters. Kaiwhakaruaki - a man-eating taniwha who was killed by warriors near Parapara Golden Bay, after a fight during which he killed many of the warriors. Kua mau i te ao - the story of the naming of Mauao (Mount Maunganui), Puwhenua's mountain suitor who was caught (mau) by the light of day (ao).
