A bronze plaque with embossed lettering and embossed border, reading 'Turnbull Library'.

Possibly the plaque originally attached to Turnbull House when the Library first opened to the public in 1920. The Library was originally called Turnbull Library and 'Alexander' was added in October 1921 at the request of Alexander Turnbull's brother Robert Turnbull, who donated a brass plaque 'Alexander Turnbull Library' for the gate.
