Description

Four drawings on one sheet. Top left, 'Patua or bucket' shows a shallow bucket made of bark. Top right, is a back view of a squatting Maori man or woman in a flax cloak, annotated with colour notes 'greenish brown, old.' Centre left, 'Slave preparing the stinking corn' shows a woman squatting beside a cooking pot with corn husks on her knees. She wears a grass skirt and displays scars from cutting herself on her shoulders and upper breasts. Bottom right, 'Henaki or eel net', is a funnel-shaped woven eel trap, viewed from the end of the opening.
