A battle raging across a river with a tall hill to the right, based on an illustration, (possibly from a drawing supplied by Charles Heaphy), in the Illustrated London News, May 1864, p. 525. The Waiari fight was part of the Waikato-Tauranga campaign of the New Zealand Wars. The Waiari area is now known as Mangapiko
