The cartoon shows Prime Minister John Key sitting at his desk saying 'We don't see it as an expensive waste of money, in fact, some key areas are quite useful...' On the desk is a large ceramic elephant bearing the words '2025 Taskforce' from which protrude pencils and on the trunk of which hang several keys. In a rubbish bin is a newspaper with a headline reading 'Govt. set to ignore Closing Gap with Australia Report'. Refers to Don Brash's 2025 Taskforce financial report which seems destined to end up being shelved, with some saying it is too extreme. The report, released on Monday 30 November, makes recommendations aimed at bridging the income gap with Australia by 2025.
