In closely-written pages, Card describes in detail his voyage on HMS `Fantome' to Sydney, where he transhipped to the `Havannah' on 24 Nov 1851. He describes his voyages to and around New Zealand, to Fiji and Tonga, before returning to Australia and New Zealand in November 1853, where his captain died. He writes of his life and loves in Sydney and Brisbane from 1854 to Mar 1855, when he is reposted to England.
