Description

A central almanac of days, surrounded by engravings showing: Election in 1841!; Tenant at will!; Election in 1844!!!; The working man is pressed to the earth by the excise; the Irishman striking at the salmon; The contrast, or specimens at an agricultural show; a monopolist rewarded; A real independent elector! [Lord Stoneyheart and his Scottish tenant Donald MacDougal argue about the candidate Lord Donegammon]; The farmer consulting with his sons as to their future prospects [the corn laws have ruined future prospects for sons of farmers]; The landlord advising his tenant to make agricultural improvements [Sir Reynold Fitznorman, M.P. talks to John Clodpole and tells him to mind his draining and ditching]; Sancho Panca flogging himself, or the landlords paying peculier burdens on themselves!; Poor John Bull! between corn and sugar monopolists his belly gets very empty; the Schoolmaster abroad; Chairing the member.
