Description

Shows an unhappy applecore representing the 'pay offer' made to secondary teachers. The cartoon is entitled 'Teachers get the pip(s).' Text below reads 'The core curriculum?' The PPTA teacher's union has been asking for a 4 per cent pay rise over one year and have rejected the Ministry of Education's offer of 1.5 per cent this year and a further 1 per cent next year. PPTA President Kate Gainsford told Radio NZ 'It's not just a problem about what teachers have got in their back pocket. There are a whole range of claims in our package, and none of them have been addressed - none of them have been thought about, none of them have been responded to properly.' (Stuff - 30 August 2010)
