The PPTA teacher's union has been asking for a 4 per cent pay rise over one year and have rejected the Ministry of Education's offer of 1.5 per cent this year and a further 1 per cent next year. PPTA President Kate Gainsford told Radio NZ 'It's not just a problem about what teachers have got in their back pocket. There are a whole range of claims in our package, and none of them have been addressed - none of them have been thought about, none of them have been responded to properly.' (Stuff - 30 August 2010)
