Description

Photographs comprise views of Wellington region and scenes in several other New Zealand places. Wellington photographs include: illuminated buildings to mark coronation in 1937; Rongotai aerodrome; Wellington Zoo, elephant bathing; new trains to mark opening of Wellington to Johnsonville electric train service, 1938; Wellington Botanical Gardens and Begonia House; Breaker Bay; illuminations for Wellington Exhibition, 1940. Images also show Alma MacKay and family, as well as interiors of their house at 94 Cashmere Avenue, Khandallah.

Photographs taken on holidays include views of Christchurch, particularly Hagley Park and Sumner; Palmerston North; Napier; Rotorua; New Plymouth, especially Pukekura Park; Wanganui. Most photographs taken by Alma MacKay.
