Description

Comprises photographs and several photographic postcards relating to the Bibby family, Waipawa and Ongaonga, and E S Bibby's military service, taken between circa 1890s and 1969 by various photographers, many of whom are unidentified.

Includes photographs relating to Waipawa and Ongaonga, as follows:

Scenes at Waipawa, including horses and carts at Waipawa Railway Station, Waipawa racecourse; scenic views, and views of buildings, including High Street and old hotel, taken 1935, and St Peters Anglican Church, taken circa 1936;

Lord Jellicoe opening the Waipawa War Memorial, taken July 1922;

Waipawa Volunteer Rifles;

Waipawa 111 Company Cadets, taken circa 1915 and featuring some subjects identified verso;

Members of the Bibby family at "The Pines" homestead, taken circa 1909;

Also includes photographs relating to Edward Stuart Bibby's military service, including Bibby and friend, A Glenny, leaving Waipawa for military service, taken 1916; the 23rd Reinforcements sailing from Wellington on 3 April 1917; several photographs of the 23rd Reinforcements at Featherston and Sling Camps, including YMCA Bible study group; and views of Oatlands Hospital and Hornchurch Camp.

Also includes photographs taken at Glen Appin between 1925 and 1961, including pastoral scenes, interior of Walkers farmhouse after the Napier Earthquake, taken 1931, and photographs relating to farming.

Also includes a formal portrait photograph of the Country Women's Institute Dominion Executive Council; photographs of Napier, dated 1905 to 1908; and a portrait photograph of Basil Bibby.

Also includes two items of photographic ephemera; one envelope, annotated likely by E S Bibby, and one printed name list cut from a photograph of the 1916 winners of the Ransom Cup (rugby), possibly belonging with PAColl-2838-1-52.
