Description

Out of an ashtray labeeled 'Phoenix cigarettes' rises a plume of smoke from a stubbed out butt that trails off into the head of Winston Peters Leader of New Zealand First. He says that 'the Foreshore and Seabed review is a separatist can of worms!...' Refers to Winston Peters rising out of the ashes like a phoenix after six months of silence since the 2008 election. Refers also to a blistering attack on the Ministerial review of the Foreshore and Seabed Act which has recommended the act be repealed and that interim legislation should be put in place until MPs work out a way to recognise Maori rights to the foreshore and seabed. Winston Peters claims if the review recommendations are picked up by the government some Maori will restrict access to the beach. He says "They are arguing about title. Make no mistake about it they are arguing something separatist. And if that's the way that New Zealand is to go then our future towards the Third World is certain," he says. (TVNZ)
