- Description
Before us is a fairground scene depicting a quaint old-fashioned merry-go-round with animals on which the children can ride; around the top of the merry-go-round are the words '2005 Merry-go-round'. However the riders in this case are not children but various political party members who appear not to be particularly enjoying the fun, in spite of the music. On a giant Mickey Mouse sits Prime Minister, Helen Clark, looking very grim; she is followed by National Leader, Don Brash, riding an elephant and glinting enigmatically behind his spectacles; then comes Leader of New Zealand First, Winston Peters on a demented-looking rabbit and behind him are the two co-leaders of the Green Party, Jeanette Fitzsimons and Rod Donaldson. Refers to the rather rough up and down ride the parties are getting in the polls in the run up to the election.
