Description

Several caterpillars chew away at the leaves on a tree; they represent 'Maori bureaucracy', 'lawyers', 'consultants' and 'iwi consultation'. Text above the image reads 'Nearly $60m in fees for Treelords deal - report'. The Treelords deal represents $400m for central North Islan iwi collective representing more than 100,000 people. The Treelords settlement is by far the largest amount to be paid. But the cartoon points out the huge amount of money paid in fees while the deal was being done.
