Comprises reminiscences by Lawn of his time on the National Forest Survey of indigenous forests of New Zealand from 1946 to 1956 with contributions also from J G Rawson, J E Henry, P J Grant, A Cunningham, A Hall, P Crequer, T Gebbie and R Robbins. Lawn describes his life until he entered the forest service, the survey from training in Rotorua and surveying the Ureweras, the forests of west Taupo, South Westland and additional contributions also include Southland. Includes aerial view of Urewera and inland Coromandel areas, sample tally sheet and map of central survey region of the North Island.
