Shows an elaborately carved tekoteko which forms the post of a palisade to a pa near Rotoaira Lake
Original sketch for lithograph in Angas, G F "New Zealanders Illustrated", Plate L, p114, where it is described as a carved Tiki or image in an old pah near Roto-aire (Rotoaira) Lake. Behond the image is a little elevated whata, or box for holding the bones of a favourite child
