Description

Interior of the grocery store belonging to R M Harris, in Sydenham, Christchurch, photographed by Samuel Heath Head, circa 1900-1920. A man and a woman stand behind the counter. Two (customers?) wait alongside. Socks, skeins of wool, flags, Lifebuoy soap, Bournville cocoa, and numerous other items are for sale. Produce is stacked high up on shelves behind the counter. Posters advertise Rex Luncheon Cheese, Bensdorp Cocoa and Radium Polishes.
