Description

Shows men using ice picks beside the ship "Terra Nova" caught in the sea ice.

Two copies held.

Gaumont first released the film "With Captain Scott to the South Pole" in 1912. The "second series" must also have been issued in the same year, because an accompanying leaflet advertising the second series (at Eph-B-ANTARCTICA-1912) indicates that the fate of Scott and his men was unknown at the time. The Library holds several posters from the original and the second series. Herbert Ponting later bought the rights and released his version in 1913 or 1914. A review of the film can be seen in Evening Post, 26 August 1913, Page 3.
