The cartoon shows Great Britain swinging wildly on a rope. The cartoon is named 'Gordon Brown hangs on..' In a second version Gordon Brown himself is swinging upside down on a rope. Refers to the hung parliament in the recent 2010 British elections which meant that Gordon Brown 'hung on' as PM for several days. However on 12th May he offered his resignation to the queen and the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats sealed a coalition deal soon afterwards. Conservative leader David Cameron became the new prime minister with Nick Clegg, leader of the Liberal Democrats as his deputy.
