Three seated Caroline Islands men, two in profile, one facing the viewer. The man on the left holds a pick. All three have tattooed limbs. One is naked, one wears a waist belt, one a loin cloth.
Based on an ink drawing by Jules LeJeune, artist with Duperrey during his 1824-1826 visit to the Pacific. This watercolour version was prepared by Chazal and engraved as Plate 51 for L. I. Duperrey's Voyage ... sur la Coquille ... 1822-1825. Histoire du voyage. (Paris, 1826)
