- Description
Shows a bush scene with a path at the right and a narrow stream at the left. Notes by the artist on the verso indicate that he used only blue, chrome yellow, burnt umber and chinese white - "no other pigments whatever".
Date estimated from the contents of a newspaper extract from the Thames Star, 31 December 1894, page 2, which states: "Sir, I know a man who went by the name of Teddy Monkhouse, who was doing a bit of painting and a property man at Johnny Hall's old American Theatre, at Shortland, in 1868. He left here in 1869, and I never heard of him after that" - signed Jas W Anderson, Thames, 31 December 1894.
