Description

Cadastral and topographic map of Arthur's Pass township showing 109 numbered sections alongside the Bealey River and the railway line. The railway station is marked. Avalanche Creek and Rough Creek intersect blocks of sections. Half of a chain access is noted alongside part of the Bealey River. Roads are shown. Areas of land are divided by colour coding or cross hatching to determine Railway Land or that which is under the control of the Board of Control for Arthur's Pass National Park.

Note on left of map states: Arthur's Pass township area edged red is the area vested in the Board, over which they have leasing powers by special Act. Area edged yellow is railway Land and the part of this land with a hatched edging, is the approximate area which the railway authorities have agreed to hand over to the Board. Area shown cross hatched is area which the Hon. the Minister of Lands has agreed to hand over to the Board. Action in this direction is under way. All the rest of the land is already under the control of the Board except the bed of the Bealey River, and action is being taken to bring this under the control of the Board.
