The collection comprises views of Oamaru, Hampden, Kurow and Papakaio (all in Waitaki County); Roxburgh, Dunedin, Timaru, Lyttelton, Invercargill, Wellington, Upper Hutt and Howick. It also includes troop departures in the 1914-1918 war; patients at the Lorne Infirmary for the aged (Invercargill); and Byrd's flagship for his first Antarctic Expedition (1928-1930), the ship City of New York.
