Description

Three horses, saddled and with their traces dragging on the ground, stamping their feet in the snow outside a single-storied shop, Elliotts, in the broad main street of an otherwise empty gold-mining town. Other buildings in the distance and mountain-tops just visible through the heavy grey clouds in the background.

Macetown was a flourishing gold-mining town in the late 1860s and early 1870s but had become a ghost town by the early 20th century.
