Two children sit on the steps outside their house watching smoke pouring out of the glasshouse. One of them says 'Our greenhouse gases would sure upset the Emission Trading Scheme budget... Grandad smokes his pipe in there'. Context - The main elements of New Zealand's ETS (Emissions Trading Scheme) were introduced in July of 2010. Some critics object on the grounds that it will not help our economy but opposing critics say it is not much more than window-dressing and will not achieve a lot in terms of real reduction of emissions.
