Wesleydale (Methodist) mission station at Whangaroa (Far North district) shown as a group of dwellings in the right middle distance. A river intersects the view and mountains surround the site. In the foreground a group of missionaries and Maori are conversing
The Library holds Tyerman's original watercolour for this view at A-263-001. The original lacks the group of people. The height of the surrounding hills is exaggerated in both views. The engraving is from Tyerman's book Journal of Voyages and travels by D. Tyerman and G. Bennett (London, 1831), Vol 2, Plate 11, p. 138
