- Description
In the upper frame someone in a limousine comments that the 'PM refused to get into a bidding war' and in the lower frame he adds 'but he did throw in a real live hobbit!' The limousine is seen to be pulling a trailer with a cage inside of which is ACT leader Rodney Hide. Refers to the dispute over the making of the Hobbit films in New Zealand. There was a union demand for negotiations over the terms and conditions offered in the contracts for actors and others working on the film that very nearly caused the film to be made somewhere else. Rodney Hide is a bit of a thorn in the government's side - they need the ACT party for numbers but ACT has been suffering from internal strife and is unstable.
