- Description
Cartoon shows a robot with the letters of the word 'love' as part of its mechanism. The pincers of the robot hold a white lily. Context; after an explosion at the Pike River Mine on 19 November 2010 a Defence Force robot was sent in to ascertain the whereabouts of the 29 miners trapped in the mine. The robot broke down because of water damage; it was reactivated and advanced about a kilometer into the mine. On 24 November a second robot was sent into the mine and an Australian mine robot arrived in Greymouth.
