The cartoon shows Maori party MP Hone Harawira as a large dog wearing a collar with studs and whistling as he leads the two Co-leaders of the Maori Party, Tariana Turia and Pita Sharples along on dogleads. A signpost reads 'Poodles and lapdogs to be on a lead at all times'. Refers to Hone Harawira's Paris escapade in which he left the conference he was attending in Brussels for a romantic weekend with his wife in Paris and then, when questioned about it, sent an email containing inflammatory language and anti-pakeha sentiments that landed him in very hot water and required an apology (2 actually) before his position in the Maori Party was confirmed. This cartoon suggests that the Maori Party leadership did not have a lot of control over the decision.
