Shows the view from the entrance to valley, with a bush-clad hillside to the left and partly cleared land, the two so-called "Black Bridges" across the river, and a horse-drawn timber-waggon in the valley close to a house by the road
The two bridges were known as the Black Bridges due to periodic painting with tar.
Reproduced as a Turnbull Library Print in 1984, under the series title Wellington to the Wairarapa.
