Prisoners of war at Camp 57, Gruppignano, Italy, lining up for food. The man standing with bare chest, sixth from right, has been identified as Mervyn Cecil Charles Tisdall. Taken during World War II by Lee Hill.
Other - Mervyn Cecil Charles Tisdall, soldier no. 26430 and POW no. 33629, trained in camps at Maadi, Helwan and Baggush Box. Saw action but captured and taken to Derna, Benghazi. From there shipped to Italy but torpedoed, ending up in Greece and then Italy again. Imprisoned in pow camps 85,51,57, then in German Stalags 344, Viiib, 317 and 8a.
