- Description
Shows a group of four men inside a tent, eating or drinking hot liquid from mugs, and seated around a central camp stove on which is a covered saucepan. Captain Robert Falcon Scott is identified at the right.
Gaumont first released the film "With Captain Scott to the South Pole" in 1912. The "second series" must also have been issued in the same year, because an accompanying leaflet advertising the second series (at Eph-B-ANTARCTICA-1912) indicates that the fate of Scott and his men was unknown at the time. The Library holds several posters from the original and the second series. Herbert Ponting later bought the rights and released his version in 1913 or 1914.
