Shows a grim-looking family, each member of which holds a different poster saying one of the following: 'Food too dear', 'Can't afford power', 'Petrol too expensive', 'Job went overseas'. Near their house is a sign saying 'Mortgagee sale this weekend'. A photographer wants a photograph of a happy New Zealand family. When he realises that he is not going to find one because of all the current economic problems, he decides to photigraph an American family instead. Refers to a Labour Party pamphlet to promote the Budget which used a photo of a smiling American family.
