Dubya's Middle East 'Piece' Tour. 18 January, 2008
- Date
- 2008
- Reference
- DCDL-0005078
- Description
Shows American President George Bush dressed as a cowboy and holding a gun with a price-tag saying '$20bn arms deal' dangling from it. He is facing a representative from Saudi Arabia who stands in front of several barrels of oil and who appears to be finding it hard to resist grabbing at the gun. Refers to the Middle East Peace Tour made by George Bush in January 2008 about which there was a lot of cynicism. Note the pun on 'peace' and 'piece' as in the cartoon text 'Dubya's Middle East 'Piece' Tour'. A weapon is sometimes known as a 'piece'. 'Dubya' is a nickname for George W Bush, the word being a southern pronunciation of the letter 'w' as in George W Bush.
