- Description
Shows Santa Claus carrying a large sack labelled 'Reserve Bank OCR' and laughing 'Ho! Ho! Ho!' as he walks off. A happy boy representing 'borrowers' clutches an enormous Christmas stocking full of gifts and an unhappy girl representing 'savers' empties a pile of stinking dung onto the floor from her tiny stocking. Refers to the cutting of the 'official cash rate' by 1% from 7.5% to 6.5% by the Reserve Bank so that borrowers benefit more than savers.
The OCR (official cash rate) is defined as the current interest rate as set by a central bank. Colour version of DCDL-0008740
