Two men stand watching a football game that has just ended so that one team is rejoicing while the other curses. On the sideline is an octopus in a tank of water. One of the men says to the other 'It's the answer to the football chiefs refusal to allow electronic technology to settle referee disputes'. Context - Refers to the news that Paddy O'Brien is calling for a greater use of technology in rugby. He says that rugby referees are at a serious disadvantage when compared with rugby league referees. The octopus is a reference to Paul the Octopus, who became famous for correctly predicting the winner of Germany's seven matches at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, as well as the final.
