Description

Views of Wellington between 1842 and 1845. The top view shows the Rev. John MacFarlane's first St Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Lambton Quay, looking south towards Clay Point with the church on the right and other houses further along the Quay, the sea to the left. Several people on the road are being battered by a strong wind. The middle view shows large tree trunks being hauled by a bullock waggon in a clearing, with tall forest in the background. Mr Skipworth's house is shown in the centre. At the bottom is a view looking along Te Aro Beach to the west, with the stores of Sutton, Lyon, Boulcott, and Wallace. Charles Heaphy's house on Clay Point can also be seen.
